The
Knitting Social
(and crocheting too!)

We Meet Every
Monday Afternoon
From 2pm to 4pm
You can find us on the upper level of the dining
room,
by the big windows. Everyone is welcome to join
and there are no fees.
We are very happy to announce that as of the end of our social on 3/26/12 we have 545 hats! Onward we strive to meet Mary's new goal of
1,000 hats by Oct. 2012. With that being said, The Knitting Social is now seriously looking to "recruit" more knitters and crocheters to
help us with attaining this new goal. So, if you or anyone you know of that knits or crochets and would like to make hats to be donated
to Doernbecher Children's Hospital, please join us here at Gateway Elks Lodge 2411 or pass along our information.
It has been discussed with Mary, then Diana Mills and then the Social members and has been decided and approved that the Social can make an afghan a
month to be donated to Diana Mills for her quilt distributions. Diana indicates that she can most assuredly find a person that is in need of a hand
made afghan. (And in case we can not finish an afghan a month, at lease one afghan will be in progress each month!)
You don't have to be an Elk or an Elkette to attend. Anyone may attend and all are
encouraged to bring friends along as guests. There are no fees for this social and you may bring your own projects. Beginners are always welcome!
Help with knitting and crocheting is available.
Donations of acrylic or cotton yarn and fleece fabric is greatly appreciated.

MAIN LOUNGE & DANCE FLOOR

Starts at 7:30pm
June 1st & 2nd
June 29th & 30th
July 13th & 14th
August 31st & September 1st
September 28th & 29th
October 12th & 13th
November 23rd & 24th
December 7th & 8th
is a start of a new chapter in music at Gateway. Gateway is going to
try something new. We are going to DJ. GSR has 1,000's of songs to dance
to: from Country to Jazz, Rock to Waltz, West to East Coast Swing.
There's even Polka, if that's what you like!
This means more options for the members who come to listen and dance.
Plus, as an added bonus, we have the ability to open it up to
Karaoke. The plan is to focus on dance music until at least 9pm
or longer. As the night progresses, we will open the stage up
to those who would like to sing. Don't let that stop you from
dancing, though!
Why this change? We are looking for ways to keep the music going
at the Lodge and to save some money. Plus it opens things up to
all kinds of music. Music in it's original format. No more saying,
"Hey, I love the band but they don't know any waltz music" or "I
like country, but I also like 80's, 50's and 60's". Now we can have
it all! If that were not enough, there is no special event fees
the weekend that you see "GSR" on the calendar. Also, if you have
songs that you like to hear and dance to... please make a list:
Name of the song, who sings it, and what type of dance music it
is. Bring in your list and if we have it we will play it for you,
as time allows. Come on down and join the fun! |
